Your Starting Point
Dearest Next Chapter Navigator,
Somewhere along the way, something changed.
Maybe your children grew up.
Maybe you retired or changed careers.
Maybe you moved.
Maybe a relationship changed.
Maybe you've experienced loss.
Maybe something wonderful is beginning.
Or maybe you can't name the transition at all—you simply know that the life you're living today doesn't look quite like the one your home was built around.
And yet your belongings may still tell the old story.
That's where things can get complicated.
Because making space for what's next sometimes requires acknowledging that something else has already changed.
Your starting point isn't knowing exactly what your next chapter will look like.
It's allowing your home to begin supporting the person you are now.
Your Superpower
You're capable of imagining possibility.
Some part of you already knows that another chapter exists, even if you can't see all of it yet.
That openness to growth is your strength.
You don't need a complete blueprint.
You just need enough trust to make a little room.
What Feels Hard
Change creates uncertainty.
And uncertainty can make familiar belongings feel unusually comforting.
You may find yourself wondering:
What if I need this version of myself again?
What if I regret changing things?
What if I don't know what belongs in this space next?
Who am I without this role, routine, hobby, career, relationship, or season?
Those aren't really organizing questions.
They're life questions.
And it's okay if they take time.
Three Gentle Next Steps
Find one item from a previous season. Don't immediately decide whether it stays or goes. Simply ask, “Does this belong to the life I'm living now?”
Ask a different question. Instead of “What if I need this someday?” try “What am I making room for?” You don't have to know the answer. The question itself creates possibility.
Make one piece of your present visible. Create space for a hobby you enjoy now. Display something from your current life. Give today's version of you some real estate in your own home.

Why Decluttering Feels So Overwhelming
Still Wondering?
How do I declutter when I'm going through a major life transition?
Slowly and thoughtfully. Start with items that carry less emotional weight and allow yourself more time for belongings connected to identity, grief, relationships, or major memories.
Does changing my home mean I'm letting go of my old life?
No. Your home can honor where you've been while also supporting where you are. Those things don't have to compete.
What if I don't know what my next chapter looks like yet?
You don't need to. Sometimes making a little physical and emotional space helps you discover what comes next rather than requiring you to know beforehand.
Need a Compassionate Partner?
Life transitions don't come with an organizing manual.
If your home is still carrying pieces of a previous season and you're ready—however tentatively—to make room for what's next, I'd be honored to help you navigate the process with patience and compassion.
