In-Person Decluttering Coaching

Compassionate, Hands-On Support

IIn-person decluttering coaching with Sort for Joy combines hands-on help with calm, judgment-free support. I work alongside you to sort through belongings, make thoughtful decisions, and create space for what truly supports your life now.

Because decluttering is often about more than stuff, we also make room for the memories, emotions, and life transitions that can make decisions difficult. You are always in control of what stays and what goes, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful.

Together, we focus on:

  • Clarifying what to keep, donate, or release

  • Reducing mental and physical overwhelm

  • Making decisions without pressure or judgment

  • Creating progress that feels steady and manageable

As items leave your space, I can also help identify targeted donation resources and coordinate donation pickups when needed—so the things you've decided to release don't become a new pile waiting by the door. Once we've decluttered, I can help organize what remains into simple, functional systems that fit the way you actually live.

In-person decluttering coaching can be especially helpful during life transitions, downsizing, family changes, or anytime clutter has become difficult to manage on your own. You don't need to know exactly where to begin—we can figure that out together.

Virtual Decluttering Coaching

Support, Accountability & Guidance—Wherever You Are

You don't need someone physically in the room to have support while you declutter. Virtual decluttering coaching gives you dedicated time, gentle accountability, and real-time guidance while you work through your space from home.

During our sessions, we'll focus on the area or challenge you've chosen. I can help you work through difficult decisions, ask questions that help you clarify what belongs in your life now, and keep you moving when overwhelm or indecision starts to take over.

Virtual decluttering sessions are well suited for:

  • Want accountability and support while doing the hands-on work yourself

  • Feel stuck or overwhelmed when making decisions alone

  • Prefer shorter, focused sessions that fit more easily into your schedule

  • Live outside my in-person service area

  • Want ongoing support between or after in-person sessions

At the beginning of each session, we'll choose a realistic focus for our time together. You can position your device so I can see the space when that's helpful, or simply talk me through what you're sorting. We'll work together in real time, with plenty of room for questions, decisions, and the emotions that sometimes come with letting go.

Before we finish, we'll take stock of what you've accomplished and identify a manageable next step—so you leave the session with progress, not another overwhelming to-do list.

Virtual decluttering isn't about doing it perfectly on your own. It's about having someone alongside you while you do it.

Virtual decluttering coaching is available regardless of location and can be used on its own or alongside in-person support.

You don't need to clean up before our call, have a perfect setup, or know exactly where to start. Come as you are, and we'll start from there.

Digital Decluttering Services

Less Digital Clutter. More Mental Breathing Room.

Digital clutter may not take up space on your kitchen counter, but it can still create plenty of overwhelm. An overflowing inbox, thousands of photos, scattered files, and a desktop full of things you'll “deal with later” can make it harder to find what you need—and leave you feeling perpetually behind.

Digital decluttering with Sort for Joy helps you sort through what's accumulated, decide what actually needs your attention, and create simple systems that make your digital life easier to navigate and maintain.

Together, we can tackle things like:

  • Overwhelming email inboxes and subscriptions

  • Digital photos and screenshots

  • Computer files and folders

  • Desktop and download-folder clutter

  • Duplicate or outdated files

  • Simple naming, filing, and maintenance systems

We don't have to organize every digital file you've accumulated since 2004. We'll start with what's causing the most frustration and focus on creating enough structure that your digital spaces begin working for you instead of demanding your attention.

Just like physical decluttering, the goal isn't perfection. It's being able to find what you need, reduce unnecessary noise, and create systems you can realistically maintain.

Digital decluttering can be done virtually through screen sharing or incorporated into an in-person session when digital clutter is part of a larger organizing project.

This kind of support can be especially helpful if you regularly lose time searching for things, feel anxious every time you open your inbox, or simply know your digital life has become harder to manage than it needs to be.

You don't have to fix everything at once. We can start with the digital space that's asking for your attention the loudest.

Donation & Consignment Coordination

You've Decided to Let It Go. Now Let's Get It Moving.

Deciding you're ready to part with something is a big step—but it doesn't automatically make that item disappear from your house. Donation bags can linger by the door, boxes can sit in the trunk, and items you've been meaning to consign can become one more unfinished task on your list.

Donation & Consignment Coordination helps bridge the gap between “I'm ready to let this go” and “It's actually gone.”

Depending on what you're letting go of, I can help with:

  • Identifying local organizations that can make good use of specific donations

  • Coordinating donation pickups when available

  • Helping sort and prepare items for donation

  • Assisting with women's and children's clothing consignment

  • Finding responsible options for items that aren't appropriate for traditional donation

For many clients, where something goes matters. Knowing that a useful item can have another life—or reach an organization or community that can genuinely use it—can make letting go feel easier.

At the same time, finding the perfect destination for every single item can become its own source of overwhelm. I'll help you find thoughtful, realistic options without turning the donation process into another project you have to manage.

Need ongoing help with everyday donations? The Goodbye Box™ may be a better fit. Donation & Consignment Coordination is especially useful when you're working through a larger decluttering project, have specialty items to place, or need more hands-on help figuring out what should go where.

Organizing After Decluttering

Organize What Stays—not Everything You've Ever Owned.

Organizing works best when we know what we're actually organizing. That's why, with Sort for Joy, decluttering usually comes first.

Once you've thoughtfully decided what belongs in your space, we can create simple, functional systems for what remains—based on the way you actually live, not the way a perfectly styled home looks in a photograph.

Together, we might:

  • Give frequently used belongings practical, easy-to-reach homes

  • Group like items so you can see and find what you have

  • Create systems that make putting things away easier

  • Rework spaces that aren't functioning well for your routines

  • Use containers or organizing products when they genuinely make sense

  • Create systems that can flex as your needs change

And no, we don't have to buy a collection of matching bins before we begin. Whenever possible, we'll work with what you already have and add organizing products only when they solve a real problem.

The goal isn't to create a system you have to work hard to maintain. It's to make everyday tasks a little easier—knowing where things belong, being able to find what you need, and making it simpler to reset a space when life inevitably gets messy again.

A successfully organized space doesn't have to be minimal, perfectly styled, or photo-ready. It simply needs to support the person living there.

You can keep things because they're useful. You can keep things because they're meaningful. You can even keep things simply because they bring you joy. Once you've decided they belong in your life, we'll help them belong in your space, too.

You don't need less for the sake of having less. You need enough space—and a workable system—for what matters to you.

Decluttering Beyond the Home

Because Not All Clutter Lives in a Closet.

Sometimes the thing taking up the most space isn't actually stuff. It's the form you keep meaning to fill out. The appointment you haven't scheduled. The return sitting by the door. The phone call you've been avoiding. The small task that's followed you from one to-do list to the next.

Individually, these things may not seem like much. But when enough of them pile up, they create their own kind of clutter—mental clutter.

Decluttering Beyond the Home offers practical, judgment-free support for the tasks and unfinished business that are taking up more of your attention than they deserve.

What could we tackle together?

  • Sorting through paperwork and mail

  • Making appointments or phone calls

  • Researching options or gathering information

  • Completing forms and applications

  • Managing returns or exchanges

  • Tackling lingering errands or small projects

  • Breaking down an overwhelming task into manageable next steps

  • Creating a simple system for tasks that keep piling up

This isn't a traditional personal assistant service with a predetermined list of tasks. It's flexible support for those things you can do yourself—but for whatever reason, aren't getting done.

Sometimes you need another person to help you get started. Sometimes you need accountability while you work through it. And sometimes you simply need another set of hands—or another brain—to help turn an overwhelming task into something manageable.

There's no judgment about how long something has been sitting on your list. A task that looks simple on paper can feel surprisingly difficult when you're already carrying a lot. We start with where things are now and focus on what would create the most useful sense of relief or momentum.

Decluttering Beyond the Home is designed for short-term, practical support with specific tasks and projects, either on its own or as part of our broader work together.

Think about the task that's been quietly following you around.

The one you keep moving to tomorrow. The one that feels heavier every time you remember it. The one you'd feel an immediate sense of relief if it were simply done.

That's a perfectly good place to start.

Add clean, usable items you're ready to donate as you find them.

  2. Let me know.
When your Goodbye Box is full, schedule your pickup.
